Langtang Valley Trek Permit

A trekking permit is necessary for anybody doing the Langtang Valley trek, whether applying for one in Kathmandu or at the entry checkpoint. Every trekker must have permits for the Langtang trek. It is mandatory to have one. 

Langtang National Park Entry Permit:

Cost: The Langtang National Park Entry Permit costs US$30 per person.

Where to obtain: You can get this permit in Kathmandu at the Nepal Tourism Board’s office or at the checkpoint near Dhunche or Syabrubesi, a day’s travel distance from Kathmandu, where this Langtang trek starts.

TIMS Card (Trekkers’ Information Management System):

Cost: The TIMS card costs USD 20 for individual trekkers, while trekkers traveling in groups need to pay USD 10.

Where to obtain: You can apply for the card at the Nepal Tourism Board office in Kathmandu or the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) association office.

Is a permit necessary for Langtang Valley Trek?

Certainly, a permit is mandatory for the Langtang Valley Trekking. Trekking in the Langtang region requires two permits: the Langtang National Park Permit and the TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) Card. They play a role when it comes to conservation and monitoring as well as in the provision of emergency assistance if needed. These permits are TIMS (Trekker’s Information Management System) and Langtang National Park entrance permits. They can be obtained in Kathmandu or at Dhunche or Syabrubesi, the entry checkpoints for the Langtang Valley Trek.

What documents do you need for the Langtang Trek permit?

To secure a permit for the Langtang Trek, you must be ready to carry your passport and a photocopy of it, which must be valid for at least six months after your intended departure from Nepal. Develop a thorough trekking schedule, including the starting and ending points and dates. Is solo trekking allowed in Langtang Valley Trek?

Nevertheless, preparing well for the trekking route, possible risks, and required permits is crucial. Besides, solo hikers must be physically fit, have good navigation skills, and have emergency preparations before hiking. It is recommended to notify someone about your hiking plans and a date when you should return for security reasons.
